Perez Hilton is famous for his snarky gossip items, but the multi-tasking blogger has greatly expanded his media empire in the past year. He’s added children’s author, television host, Spanish telenova star, and now, fashion designer, to his resume. ShoeDazzle, a retailer that also offers personalized styling advice, has partnered with Perez on two designs: a studded faux-suede platform pump and a unisex metallic sneaker. Both on go on sale today for $39.95 and 100 percent of profits benefit the Gay Lesbian & Straight Education Network, a charity chosen by Perez that works to make schools safe for all students. We chatted with the self-proclaimed Queen of All Media about appearing on the worst dressed list, the importance of fighting anti-gay bullying, and what he wishes he could write about Ms. Lohan.

Congratulations on your new designs!
Thank you! I am so proud of both of these shoes. I was really involved in every part of the process. I can’t sketch for my life, but I pay attention to detail and was able to describe specifically how I wanted them to look.

How did this partnership with ShoeDazzle come about?

ShoeDazzle approached me. I never had any burning desire to be a shoe designer, nor would I say I am a shoe designer. I feel like since I am speaking to Teen Vogue, I should establish this: just because I often dress like a fool, it doesn’t mean that I have a bad sense of style. It just means that I’m acting my part and I know what I need to do to get noticed. When you’re a guy, you have to either get on the worst dressed list or you won’t get on any list at all. Often times, I’ll wear crazy, ridiculous, over-the-top Elton John inspired looks, but I like to think that I do have a good sense of style and I think that these shoes really reflect that.
